David's role in the following selected projects was as Principal-in-Charge and Lead Architect, interfacing with the client and project team throughout.
Commencing in 2000, the first three buildings of a 5 building campus were completed in 2002. The buildings provide accommodation for open office workstations, computer labs, food services and other related support facilities. The master plan also prepared by the Firm calls for the buildings to be linked at grade as well as a parking structure to accommodate 600 cars. The firm provided base building design services and acts as lead consultant, coordinating the work of a multi- disciplinary consultant team appointed directly by the design builder, Canderel Construction Management. The gross building area to date is approximately 376,750 sf. and the construction cost including fit-up is in excess of $45,000,000.
In 2005, the Firm was commissioned to design an 8,600 sf. addition to the existing community centre to accommodate a multi-purpose activity room with a sprung hardwood floor, meeting rooms, new large lobby and reception, and public washrooms. Specific design challenges includes a tie-in to the existing structure and the development of an architectural expression compatible with the existing building. The addition was added to the front of the existing building and presents a new and welcoming image to the street. The project was completed on budget and within schedule at a cost of $2,011,00.00.
This innovative project includes a child care centre, an elementary school, and a high school in one facility, each having its own entrance and identity. The development on the 15 acre site includes parking for 130 cars, bus drop-off loop, and separate play areas for child care, elementary, and secondary students. A full size soccer field and 4,300 sf. running track are also included. The project was completed in 2005 at a cost of $12,952,000.
