As a member of the Pye & Richards Team, Isabel's role in the firm will be as intern architect, assisting the Project Architect on a variety of projects. Isabel will develop her skills creating detailed drawings for a broad range of buildings types and will be involved early in the project to ensure that the design concept is maintained and enhanced during the development of CAAD generated construction documents for which she will be responsible.

During the construction period, Isabel will assist in the clarification of construction documents, review shop drawings, and update contract documents to reflect as-built conditions. Isabel is available to the Client's representative at all times.

The followings are examples of some of the many projects including schools on which Isabel has acted as Assistant Project Architect.

École élémentaire Monfort, Ottawa

This two storey elementary school with child care centre was tendered in May 2008 at a cost of $8,993,000, and completed in July 2009. The building will accommodate 575 students and 26 toddlers and pre-schoolers. The plan is based on our previous École Jean-Paul-II as a "modified clone". Various design initiatives have been introduced to make this school a "green" building, including external sun shades, low E high performance tinted glazing, heat recovery on air handling units, BAS controls, and a high R value building envelope.

McKellar Park Community Building, Replacement Facility, Ottawa

The 3,015 sf. replacement building provides accommodation for a children's activity room complete with servery and washroom, a football club change room and office, a skate change room and public washrooms. It was tendered in November 2009 at a cost of $654,156.00, and is presently under construction. Completion of the project is scheduled for July 2010.

Carleton Heights Community Centre Addition, Ottawa

In 2009, the Firm was commissioned to design an 1,700 sf. addition to the existing community centre designed by the Firm in 1986. The program consisted of a multi-purpose activity room with a sprung hardwood floor, storage rooms, and renovations to the existing public washrooms. Specific design challenges includes a tie-in to the existing structure and the development of an architectural expression compatible with the existing building. The addition was added to the back of the existing building and presents a new and welcoming image to users from the parking lot. The project was completed on budget and within schedule at a cost of $550,000.

Navan Arena Addition & Renovations, Navan

This $450,000 addition to the existing Arena consists of change rooms and showers. Specific design challenges includes a tie-in to the existing structure. Because of the rural site, a water reservoir and fire pump were required by the Ontario Building Code.
