This project is a commercial / retail complex presently consisting of two reinforced concrete framed 10 storey Towers (A & B) connected by a 2 storey enclosed retail mall. The complex is also connected to the Alcatel Corporate Headquarters at 600 March Road (also designed by the Firm) by means of a covered walkway over Legget Drive. The complex was constructed in two phases, commencing in 1996 and completed in 1998. The two towers are occupied in large by some nationally known "high-tech" companies, smaller start-up companies, professional offices such as legal and financial, as well as medical and dental suites. A full service Bank is located in the 2 storey retail mall as well as, for example, a full service restaurant, a travel agency gift shop, hair stylist, dry cleaners, tailors, and print & copy centre. The Firm carried out many tenant fit-ups and continues to do so as new tenants move in. The Centre is class in a combination of white precast concrete, green reflective glass curtainwall, and storefront glazing. The complex has an area of approximately 400,00 sf. was completed at a cost of $32,000,000.00. Each Tower has three elevators with custom designed cabs.
Lead consultant in a multi-disciplinary project team involving structural, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, interior designing, and landscaping consultants appointed directly by the owner.
The major challenge on this project was to bring it on line as quickly as possible to take advantage of the local "high-tech" boom and provide services to the rapidly growing Kanata Research Park. This was achieved by setting up a dedicated Project Team that had worked together on a fast-track basis on previous KRP projects within the park.
